Vintage Tea Themed Paper Bag Card

Welcome back to my blog! Today, I just have a quick card share I created for a challenge on Youtube. The challenge was hosted by Not2Shabby shop and required us to create a paper bag card. Having never made one before, I thought I'd participate and give it a go. Not only was so easy to make, but the card turned out great! Let me know what you think.

I went for a vintage, tea theme for my card with browns and pinks. I just love this paper collection by DCWV, appropriately called "Garden Tea Party". The paper bag I used is just a standard lunch bag size. I folded it in half and then adhered my papers. The closure for my bag is a bit of lace ribbon I had in my stash.

I created all the flowers from coordinating cardstock using Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms Dies. Then I dabbed them with white acrylic paint to make them more shabby. The leaves were fussy cut from the paper collection and I added pips to my flower clusters.

For the focal point of my card, I used a stamp set by Graphic 45 called Tea party. I stamped the images onto a piece of pattern paper and then fussy cut them out. I then,  adhered them to the Spellbinders circles with foam tape for dimension. The cute sentiment is from a Fiskars stamp set called Latte Love.

The inside is also decorated with the pattern paper. I created a pocket on the left hand side that's perfect for adding a gift card. The stacked tea cups and flowers were also fussy cut from the collection and adhered to the bottom right hand side. This still leaves plenty of room for me to write my message to the recipient.

This is the back of the card, also covered with the beautiful papers.

That's it! I love the way it turned out. The paper collection and the stamps were just perfect for what I had in mind. Hope you like it too!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Shabby Chic Castle

Hey guys! I just realized I haven't posted anything in over a month. I've taken on some new responsibilities and have been sooo busy!
Today I want to share a design team project that I created for Not2Shabby. This is actually my last month designing for Jamie's shop and I'm sure going to miss it. Jamie sent me an adorable set of stamps this month, including La La Land Crafts Sassy Princess Marci. As soon as I saw her I knew I had to do something involving a castle.. While perusing the aisles at my local craft store, I came across a castle birdhouse made out of wood and thought it perfect for my project.Check it out.

Sassy Princess Marci in her castle.

I painted the wooden birdhouse with Vanilla acrylic paint and Light Pink paint by Craftsmart. Then I used a stamp that resembled stone texture and Pumice Stone Distress Ink to stamp all around the walls of the castle.

It's very subtle, but you can see a little of the stone look, the stamp created.

I colored Marci's skin and hair using my Copic Markers and used gold Stickles on her crown. Her outfit was paper pieced using scraps from an old collection by Melissa Frances.

The flowers and vines along the castle walls were die cut using Magnolia Doohickey dies and cardstock. I really love the look of the vines against the castle walls.

I made a little flag for the top of the castle using my Spellbinders Banners die set and a bamboo skewer. Sassy Princess Marci comes with 3 sentiments and I chose the "once upon a time" sentiment to stamp onto the flag.I also created a mini flower bed out of a matchbox and some more Doohickey dies. Isn't it cute?

Here's another full view from the side.

I think this piece would look so cute in a little girl's room or make for a cute centerpiece for a Princess theme party. Too bad my little one has outgrown her princess phase.

Parisian Themed Layered Card for Not2Shabby!

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope your day is a bright and sunny one, because mine doesn't look like it's going to be. We had a severe thunderstorm all night, here in Spring. The thunder was making the entire house shake and the rain would not let up. So needless, to say, it's wet and gloomy out there. But days like this do have their upside because it means I can stay in and have more crafty time! Today I'm sharing a bright and cheerful card I created for Not2Shabby.

This is my attempt at a layered card similar to the ones I've seen on Pinterest. The image stamp is by Whimsy Stamps called Walkies. I colored her hair, skin and the little pup with my Copic markers and then, I paper pieced her outfit. I hadn't colored black hair in a long time, that I almost forgot how to do it,lol. It took me 3 tries until I was happy with the results.

The designer paper I used is Authentique's Classique Pretty collection. I love the color combo of pink, black and white. Very Parisian don't you think?

I used several Magnolia Doohickey dies on my card and tons of flowers from my stash . Small seam binding bows and bling add an elegant feel to the card.

The sentiment is a sticker from the same collection and I just adhered it to a scrap piece of coordinating cardstock.

I really hope you like my card and I invite you all to visit Not2Shabby shop. Jamie carries the most amazing stamps at great prices. You may also use discount code "LIZRUSSELL" for another 10% off your purchase.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you all have a pleasant day!

Free Standing Pop Up Card for Not2Shabby!

Hello there, crafty friends! Today I want to share with you another Design Team project for Not2Shabby. I made a free standing pop up card for my mom, for Valentine's Day.

Isn't it cute? I found the tutorial for the card on Splitcoaststampers but I modified the dimensions to fit the sweet image.

The image stamp is another cutie by C.C. Designs, called Rose. I colored her with my Copic markers and added Stickles to the heart on her headband and dress.
The oval die cuts are by Spellbinders and I rimmed the outside oval with small rhinestones.

You can see here how it stands up on it's own.

Here, you can see how it folds up for easy mailing.

This card was very easy to put together and I really love the way it turned out. I hope you like it too!

Valentine's Day Cards using Dies

Hi everybody! Valentine's Day is right around the corner so I thought I'd get started on my V-Day projects a little earlier than last year. And to get me in the mood, I started off by making some cards. This year it's all about using what you have rather going out and buying a ton of new things. If you're anything like me, you have a ton of craft supplies that are still untouched, probably still in the package, right? So I vowed to find new and creative uses for all my old stuff and how to incorporate them in my projects. The cards I created were made using dies that aren't Valentine's day related and I think they turned out super cute!

I had a lot of fun making these cards.Hopefully I've inspired you to take out your old dies and find new ways to use them in your projects. Let me know what you think!

Kaisercraft 75 Cents Mixed Media Canvas, Card & Decorated Glassine Bag

Hello there scrappy friends! I'm finally back after what seems like an eternity! But boy it was one crazy summer let me tell you!
My move was by far the worse move ever ( and we've moved around quite a bit in the last 7 years)! It just seemed like everything that could go wrong did and then some. Like not fitting all our stuff into the biggest moving truck we could find, and having to make 3 trips! Ugggh! Then our power was shut off because hubby and I assumed the other had called the electric company to make arrangements for service ( which neither one of us did). It was on a Friday and they said power would not be back on until the following Monday. I'm surprised we made it 3 days without air conditioning in this Texas heat, without killing each other! I'm just so glad summer's over and we've gotten back to our normal routine. I've even had a chance to do some crafting, so let me share with you what I made...

Mixed Media Canvas

I made this canvas for a very special lady I met on Youtube. She is undergoing chemotherapy and has lost all of her hair. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must be to have to go through such an ordeal. Personally,  I don't know how I would handle this situation.
But I would hope that I would have half the strength she has, because she is the most amazing and courageous woman I've ever known. I admire her so much for her positive attitude and her unwavering faith. Nothing can bring her down, I tell you! She is that  amazing!

Here's a closeup of the sentiment on the canvas. This special lady loves flowers so I made sure to incorporate lots of lush blooms to my canvas. I used Spellbinders Floral Ovals and Large Ovals Dies along with scraps from Kaisercraft's 75 Cents paper collection for the focal point of the canvas.

I  created the background with a damask stencil and gloss gel medium. Then I used several ink sprays, Ferro special effect paste, and acrylic paint to create a grungy, yet feminine look.

Thinking of You Card

I also made her a card to coordinate with her canvas. Here, I used Spellbinders Opulent Ovals dies and some pretty paper doilies.

Here's another view of the card. I finished the inside to match the outside of the card as well.

Decorated Glassine Bag

Last, but not least, I decorated a medium size glassine bag to round out her gifts. I wanted to send her some pretty laces so I wrapped them around a pretty tag and stuck it inside the bag. I think it turned out so pretty!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
