"Adorable" Gorjuss Girl Altered Photo Display

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm here again, to share another Guest Design Team project for Sacrafters shop. Today's project is a fun 3D scene I created with one of Sacrafters Photo Display units and an adorable Gorjuss Girl stamp. She carries several different styles of these fun, wood Photo Displays in her shop, as well as other awesome off the page products. You can check out Sacrafters store here and if you make a purchase of $30 or more, you can save an additional 10% off your purchase with my discount code "LIZFANS".

So here it is! Isn't it adorable?
The unit was so easy to put together. First,I used a warm white acrylic paint to paint the parts that weren't going to be covered with paper. Then I used Prima's Princess 6x6 paper pad to cover the rest of the unit. All the edges were buffed with a sanding block then inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

The Gorjuss stamp is called "Hang me up to dry". I colored the sweet image with my Copic markers and paper pieced the dress and cute little socks. I used foam tape to adhere the stamped image onto the hanging piece and then added those cute little cloud die cuts. Both the cloud die and the grass and flowers die are from the Magnolia Doohickey Club Volume 4.

Here, you can see the green ribbon I used to wrap around the unit. I love how it looks like vines. I then added those tiny, pink roses from my stash.

I used two Martha Stewart butterfly stamps to stamp onto scraps of paper using archival ink. Then I fussy cut them out, added pearls to the centers and adhered them randomly to the unit.

I knew it would be very difficult to cover the title with the pattern paper so I used paint instead. First I painted the letters with a warm white acrylic paint. Then I took a a script stamp inked with brown archival ink and randomly stamped onto the letters.Next,  I used a sponge dauber and dabbed pink, peach and white acrylic paint on top. Lastly I inked the letters with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I really love the way the title turned out because it matches the papers so well.

The back of the unit is also covered with paper and here, you can see that cute picket fence I adhered to the posts.

I really do love the way this project turned out. It was so fun and easy and just looks adorable in my daughter's room.
If you like this project, head on over to Sacrafters shop and check out the rest of her amazing off- the-page products. They are all constructed of high quality materials and so fun to alter.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day.
See you all real soon!

Magnolia Altered Wood Gift Bags

Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog.Today I want to share a design team project for Not2Shabby.
Jamie was kind enough to send me some really cute stamps to work with this month and I received another Tilda! Would you believe it is only my second Magnolia stamp ever, lol. Between the cute stamps and the Dookickey dies, I'm officially hooked on Magnolia!
Since I'm all fired up for Spring, I created another Spring themed project.

I had picked up these cute wood gift bags at my local craft store and thought it would be cute to alter them as little favor boxes. I painted the inside of the boxes and covered the outside with Prima's Songbird collection. It's an older collection but oh so pretty and I just love the soft colors.
The sweet Magnolia stamp is Tilda with Hanging Rabbit and it was stamped onto watercolor paper and colored with watercolors for a soft look.

I used a lot of my Doohickey dies to create an outdoor Spring scene. The butterflies are from a MS punch and all the edges are inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

I inked all the die cut pieces too,to make them pop against the soft background. Then I added little pearls to the flower centers and on the hanging sign.

On the back, I created a little envelope to hold a small card for the recipient.

This is the second one I made. It's very similar to the first one so I'll just post some pictures.

I think they turned out so cute. Now, all I have to do is fill them with goodies and they're all set!

Head on over to Not2Shabby and don't forget to use discount code "LIZRUSSELL" for 10% off your purchase.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

"Something Blue" Altered Printers Tray

Hello friends! Today I want to share with you a project I created to celebrate my recent wedding anniversary. My anniversary was on April 23 and I celebrated 8 wonderful years of wedded bliss with the love of my life. It really seems like we've been married so much longer though, because Jay has been in my life for over 14 years. What started out as friendship simply blossomed into love over time and I couldn't be happier. So to commemorate 8 wonderful years, here's my latest creation:

I used Prima's "Something Blue" collection and lots of wood and metal pieces I had on hand. I really love the soft colors of this collection and I printed out my pictures in Sepia tone to better suit the color palette.
The Printers tray was intended as  a gift for my hubby, but as you can see, it turned out more feminine than I had planned. " So who is it for really?" he asked. I had to laugh at that, guess I got carried away with all the flowers, hehe. But it did turn out so pretty and it's going to look wonderful hanging on my wall.

Phew! Lots of pictures,  I know. Just wanted to show you close ups and details of all that went into each compartment. Altering printers trays is a lot of work and this one was definitely a labor of love. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it and I thank you so very much for stopping by. Have a great day !

Prima Lyric Shabby Chic Projects

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm in such a great mood today because we finally get to see the sun! It's been raining for days without even a glimpse of sunshine.  I probably shouldn't complain too much since I know some of you are still seeing snow, but I'm just so tired of the gloom. Well, at least the rain kept me from going out and I've been pretty busy crafting and catching up on my to do lists. I have a few sweet friends who recently celebrated birthdays and I've been trying to finish their gifts so I can send them off. But as soon as I finish gifts for one, another has a birthday coming up! So I'm never on time sending my gifts, but better late than never, I always say.

My friend is such a talented crafter and she inspires me so much with her beautiful shabby chic projects. She's got shabby chic down to a "T" so I thought I'd give it a go and create something shabby just for her. So here goes....

I made a cute little easel card using Tim Holtz's Baroque Dies and the Prima Lyric collection, one of my faves. The flowers are all from my stash and were dabbed with glue and sprinkled with Diamond Dust. Once the glue dried I sponged some Snow-Tex on the tops of the flowers. This creates a beautiful shabby look and adds texture to the flowers as well.

I just love creating my own crinkled seam binding bows. I topped this one off with a ribbon buckle and flat back pearl.

I also altered a TP roll. I've never made one before and I think this is such a clever way to present a little gift. I'm going to add some metal charms inside an organza bag and tuck it inside the roll. So cute!

Love the way this chipboard wall hanging turned out! I had picked up the chipboard die cut at a scrapbook expo and now I'm kicking myself for not having bought more. Don't you just hate that?
The whole thing is covered with pattern paper and I fussy cut images from the collection and used them as embellishments.

I often call my friend the "Shabby Chic Queen" so I thought this would be cute to add to the wall hanging. I love the font and glitter on these Recollections Alpha stickers.

Last, but not least, I altered a wooden box from Michael's. I whitewashed the inside of the box and adhered all my papers down with Mod Podge. I then used a Heidi Swapp stencil and some color sprays and a second stencil and modeling paste to create layers. Some lace, flowers and fussy cut elements round out the look of the box.

The mesh screen on top of the box is the reason I bought it. It reminds me of a bug catcher box, but looks like all my butterflies got loose, lol.

Here's the back view of the box. The hardware was alcohol inked with silver and then sponged with Snow-Tex to coordinate better with the papers and look of the box.

Side Views of the box....

Inside view of box...

Well, that's all folks! Hope you like my projects and please come back to visit real soon!
